The 6th Bogra International Film Festival is starting from Thursday (January 8) organized by Pundranagar Film Society, Bogra. The three-day event will continue till January 10 under the slogan ‘Youth Film, Youth Festival’.
A total of 74 films from 32 countries will be screened at this year’s festival. Madhuban Cineplex and District Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Bogra will be the venue for the event. Usually the festival is held in February, but due to the upcoming National Assembly elections and the month of Ramadan, this year it has been organized in January.
Festival director Supin Burman said that this year the best film awards will be given in seven categories. Competitions will be held in the following categories: International Short, Feature Film, Documentary, Animated Film, Open Door Short and National Film Competition. There will also be an Honorable Mention Award.
In addition to film screenings, the festival has master classes, open discussions and filmmaking workshops. The master class will be conducted by filmmaker Rajibul Hossain. Mohammad Rakibul Hasan will conduct the three-day documentary film making workshop.
The film will be screened at Madhuban Cineplex on January 8 and 9 from 3 pm and on January 10 from 10 am. The exhibition will run from 10 am to 7 pm on January 8 and 9 at the Zila Shilpakala Academy Auditorium. All exhibitions will be open to visitors.
About 45 filmmakers and crews from six countries will participate in this year’s festival. This year’s festival is dedicated to Ritvik Ghatak, the famous filmmaker of the subcontinent, on the occasion of his birth centenary. Apart from this, a special event ‘Photo Reels’ will be held as part of the festival on the work of international award-winning photographer Touhid Parvez Biplab.
