Jaksu Elections: Battle for VP-AGS Post


Jagannath University Central Student Council (JAKSU) elections are counting. According to the latest information, the Election Commission has announced the results of 14 centers out of total 39 centers. The announced results showed a tight fight between the candidates of Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir for the posts of Vice President (VP) and General Secretary (AGS).

The election commission announced the result from the central control room of the election set up in the central auditorium of the university on Wednesday afternoon.

In the results published by the 14 centers, AKM Rakib, the candidate of the ‘Unified Nirbhik Jobian’ panel consisting of Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Adhikar Parishad and general students, is ahead for the post of Vice President (VP). He got 1 thousand 673 votes. Riazul Islam, the candidate of the ‘Adamya Jobian Oikya’ panel supported by his nearest rival Islami Chhatra Shibir, got a total of 1,424 votes.

However, candidates supported by Chhatra Shibir are ahead for the posts of General Secretary (GS) and Joint Secretary (AGS). Shibir’s candidate Abdul Alim Arif got 1,587 votes for the post of GS, while Khadijatul Kubra of Chhatra Dal got 793 votes. Shibir’s Masood Rana got a total of 1,466 votes for AGS post. His closest rival Chhatra Dal BM Atiqur Rahman Tanzil got 1 thousand 337 votes.

According to the Election Commission, the results of the remaining 25 centers including the Hall Sangsad are yet to be declared. The results of these centers will be announced gradually.

Voting was held in 178 booths of 39 centers in Jaksu and Hall parliamentary elections on Tuesday. Then the counting of votes begins. Counting was temporarily suspended around 9 pm due to machine malfunction. Counting of votes started again after 12:30 pm.
