A court has imposed travel ban on Zakaria Rahman, an associate of retired Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) driver Syed Abed Ali.
Ali is currently in jail over alleged involvement in question paper leak.
On Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Foyez issued the order in response to an application from the investigation officer. Bench Assistant Md Riaz Hossain of the court confirmed the information.
Regarding this, the case investigation officer, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Al-Amin, said, “Government official Zakaria is involved in an organised question paper leak syndicate and is attempting to flee the country.
“In this situation, banning his travel abroad is essential for a proper investigation.”
Abed Ali was arrested on 8 July 2024. He has been in jail since then. On 5 January, the ACC filed a case against Abed on charges of amassing over Tk 5 crore worth of illegal assets and making unusual transactions involving nearly Tk 45 crore.
